LTO Registration

It’s just about the time of the year for my sister-in-law to have her trusty car’s registration renewed. Yes, that means going to the LTO and paying the fees all over again and have the body and engine numbers stenciled and all, get a new insurance policy with roadside assistance and all. Last time I think it took her half a day for the whole process. Let’s see if that improves this year.

To-Dos

The weekend is almost here, that means it’s time for me to be Handy Manny again. Among the things I would need to do this weekend is install new door chimes, replace the plug – which Lance broke yesterday - in the electric fan for the living room, have someone clean the air conditioner – which is long overdue, and after which we hope will trim down the electric bill; and check the roof for leaks since the rainy season is already here. I hope I can do all these before the weekend’s over.

Healthy Cruises Are Becoming More Popular

Some people want to take cruises because they envision a week of doing nothing but eating, drinking, and sleeping. Overindulgence, however, is rarely a good thing. That's just as true for vacation as for daily life. Many of those tourists who eat and drink excessively during their cruises return home feeling worse than they did when they left for vacation. They get home and feel that they need a vacation to recover from the vacation.

Not everyone, however, is willing to accept this from cruise offers. Health-conscious people have started demanding alternatives to cruises that make them fatter and more tired. Instead of all-you-can-eat buffets loaded with fattening foods and alcoholic drinks, they want vacation options that include yoga classes and organic meals.

As the average person becomes more aware of the effects that overindulging can have on their bodies, the popularity of healthy cruise vacations have started to increase. Ten years ago it was tough to find any cruise offers that didn't highlight all-inclusive prices that encouraged tourists to consume too much food and alcohol. That has started to change. Today, it is relatively east for individuals, couples, and families to find cruise deals that highlight athleticism, massage, healthful foods, meditation, and relaxation.

In fact, many people have started turning to these cruises as ways to jump start their diet and exercise programs. Getting through the first week of a new diet and exercise program can be difficult, especially when you have to focus on work. People tend to succumb to excuses that will allow them to eat fast food and skip exercise classes. When you start the diet and exercise program during vacation, though, you give your body a week to adjust without interfering with your productivity. It also gives you the chance to learn healthy eating and exercising habits from professionals.

Be Independent

Who's afraid of being alone? Certainly not a girl who's armed with self-defense tips to make her feel safe than sorry when going solo.

If you're going to park your car at night, make sure you find a spot where it's bright or well-lighted. And if you're going to hop into your car, check the insides first before turning on the engine. For example, slide into the driver's seat, with your car door ajar, glance at the back and beside you, and if everything seems okay, start the engine and then drive off.

Other car smarts you should know:

1. Have your car keys ready before you even enter the parking lot or as you're walking towards your car so that you won't have to fumble for them. The same applies to house or apartment keys.

2. Always have at least P100 or smaller bills and loose change inside your car in case of emergencies (e.g. gas money, pumping air into your tires, etc.) You can stash it inside your car's ashtray or glove compartment, or stick it into the sun visor.

If you're taking a cab, inform a friend or relative the plate number so they know how to find you, just in case. Invest in a self-defense gadget such as pepper spray. You can find these in malls, or stores.

Nothing Like The Outdoors

After my almost month long trip, I am need of another break. It doesn’t have to be an out-of-town trip – I think I’ve had enough for the time being, thank you – it could be anywhere as long as I get to relax. It was in one of these lethargic episodes when I stumbled upon Outdora which is a great treasure trove of things you would need and love if you – like me – enjoy the relaxing in the great outdoors.

If having a big Sunday barbecue with friends and family is your thing, they have several outdoor grills that will meet your need, from portable grills to huge freestanding and modular outdoor kitchens. If all you want to do is lounge around the backyard, soaking in on the sun or having a meaningful conversation with others, or just keeping your thoughts to yourself, they have outdoor furniture like lounge chairs, loveseats and ottomans just to name a few. Green thumbs aren’t left behind with their assortment of greenhouses. They have it from small cold frame starter box greenhouse to lean-to and hobbyist greenhouses to extra large greenhouses that have all the space you’d need for your plants. I’d like a lot of these, but for now, I could settle for a little nap on a backyard hammock. I haven’t had a time in one of those in ages. But thanks to the Outdora blog - with all of its useful articles - it gave me an idea to put one of those in our backyard. There’s nothing like a nap on a hammock on a sunny afternoon.

Browsing through the site has really got my imagination going. It’s given me a lot of ideas on what to do with all the yard space at home. Among some of the things I’d want are fire pits to while away the time in the evenings, with a cold drink in your hand. There’s really nothing like the outdoors.

Reward

I was asking my husband if he will allow me to buy material stuff for myself as a reward because of the latest development I had in my work. I really want to have an iPhone or at least any high end phone but my husband doesn’t want me to buy one. He always asks me if it’s a need or a want. This time, his question was, “does it have to be an iPhone?” Then I told him, if he doesn’t want me to buy an iPhone then I’ll buy a designer bag. And of course his answer is still no! He said he will only allow me to buy those if we won in the lottery and have millions of pesos. Hayzz!!! Maybe I should just buy gold bullion and make it as an investment. I’m sure in the future, its value will be much higher as if we won in the lottery. And hopefully by then, he will allow me to buy material stuff.

CATS

I’m a big fan of Lea Salonga. I also love watching musical plays especially if she’s the lead character. When they were playing Ms Saigon here in our country, I made sure I’ll be able to watch it and I was really glad she was the one playing as Kim when we watched. We also watched Cinderella when it was played at CCP a few years ago. This year though, as much as I would like to watch her again, I decided not to watch Cats for I prefer seeing her face clearly when she portrays a role. But I’m sure she’ll be awesome as Grizabella especially when she sings “Memory”. Here’s a picture of her in costume I grabbed here.

Wedding Gifts

I was surprised when I heard from my newly-wed friends that the cash gifts they received from their wedding were almost 3/4s of the amount they spent. That's really, really great or they spent so much on their wedding and getting 75% of it back to them was really something! And that's just part of the good news. They said that they also got gold coins from one of their Principal Sponsors and really appreciated it for they know that in the future it will increase its value. I find it a unique idea as a gift and if someday, I'll be a Principal Sponsor too, I might imitate their sponsor and give the couple gold coins too!

Busy Week

The ten provincial heads of our company were here in the office for two weeks and today was their last day. When they arrived Monday last week, some went straight from the airport to our office carrying their victorinox luggage, while some checked in on the hotel first before proceeding here. During the time that they were here, I was so busy because I attend on all their meetings for I was tasked to handle a business unit and I need to listen to their insights if my product will be marketable in their area. We also had dinner together for three nights to bond. And last Tuesday, we had a fellowship night and it was so fun that the provincial heads will miss it when they go back. Our human resources was busy too for all of us want to maximize the time that they are here. For our HR, they got the measurement of our male employees to provide them the polo shirts for men as part of their uniform. They need to do it as soon as possible for these are custom polo shirts and they would want that the provincial heads will be able to take it home when they go back to their respective provinces.

Popular Clothing Includes Designer Jeans

Clothing is looked at by millions of people as a status symbol, even though it should not be considered one. Those who wear certain clothing brands are looked at as preppy, trendy, fashionable, lowly or even wealthy. A popular piece of clothing available these days for people of all ages is designer jeans. Designer jeans can be incredibly expensive for those purchasing them, especially if you buy them directly from the stores that are considered designer. Sometimes you can find designer jeans for sale on websites, in stores, and through other outlets for reduced prices. These reduced prices can be for much less, even hundreds less, than the original sticker price.

Designer jeans are heavily popular amongst teenagers these days, especially in the
United States, where wearing designer clothing is considered important for teens to be popular. Even though these views seem to be wrong, many teenagers still feel that if they do not wear certain clothing they will not be considered part of the 'in' crowd. Designer clothing can cost anywhere from $80-$150 per piece of clothing. These prices are absolutely too high for some people who need new clothing, so they decide to buy generic clothing, especially when it comes to jeans.

It is possible for people to find jeans from designer companies on the Internet for cheap prices, prices that anyone can afford. The prices for these jeans might be cut in half, be 30 percent off, be 75 percent off or more. How many times have you wanted to own a piece of designer clothing but could not afford the price on the sticker? Now you can purchase jeans from designers through sale websites that offer them in navy blue, stone washed, gambit blue, silver and even black in color. Choose the pair that best fits your style.

Insurance

My friends were talking about insurance this morning at twitter. It was really a good topic and I learned something from each one’s sharing of what insurance they got for themselves and for their children. I just realized that I don’t have insurance for my kids nor for my parents. I only got one for myself and one for the husband. Now I’m thinking what type of insurance to get for my kids and if there are senior life insurance that I can get for my parents. I know we will find this useful when the need arises.

Bench Uncut

I saw a couple of pictures from the Bench Uncut show held at Araneta Coliseum last week. I was really fascinated on what I saw and I envy those girls who are really slim and sexy. Among the boys, one who caught my attention is Aljur Abrenica. I find this young man cute (also because he looks like my nephew) and I also remember when he was just fresh from winning Star struck. Now look at how toned his muscles are and I remember they even featured him on the television doing lower ab workout and I’m really impressed with his determination. And based on the picture, all the hard work paid off. I was wondering, can my husband get that kind of body too? Hehe!

Missing Belly Dancing

I haven’t gone to the gym in a long time; I think the last time I was there was last March and I really miss belly dancing and also hiphop dancing. I’m not sure and I don’t care if those two are not the best fat burning exercises but those classes are my two favorite group exercises at the gym. Now, it will take longer before I get to join again since my membership expired this month and I don’t know if I will still renew it.

Still Awake

It’s almost midnight here in my part of the world and here I am still awake; blogging, catching up on twitter with my friends and uploading pictures for my parents to see. I know I have to sleep early because I have tons of meetings tomorrow but I’m not sleepy yet. I should probably take some sleeping pills to help me fall asleep asap and be refreshed when I go to my meetings tomorrow.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I saw this movie trailer and I got excited upon seeing it. I still remember the first time the movie was shown and Daniel Radcliffe (who played Harry Potter) is just a small boy. He probably took some human growth hormones because he’s now so tall and looks like a man. :D Anyhow, I’m really looking forward to seeing this movie. Can’t wait for November!

I Miss Wearing a Dress

These two caught my attention when I saw the sale at old navy. I used to wear dress when I was still single and slim. Whenever I go out with my friends either to the mall or out of town, you will always see me wearing a dress. I can still remember my officemates used to tease me during Fridays, which is a washday for us, that I’m so formal since I’m wearing a dress whereas most of my officemates are just wearing jeans. Now, I hardly wear dress anymore for I feel so big when I wear one. Hayzz…I should really be serious on my search for the best weight loss product so that I’ll start losing weight and will be able to wear a dress again. :)

Gisele Bundchen

I saw this magazine and was amazed on how she lost weight and looks so sexy a few months after giving birth. I, on the other hand gave birth almost two years ago and when I look at myself in the mirror, I look like I'm four months pregnant! I don't know what she did but this picture served as an inspiration for me that I can still lose weight. Yes, I know I won't look sexy just like her but with discipline I know I can get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I began reading 7-dfbx review to see how it works, its benefits and if I can use it. I do hope it will do wonders on me!

Going Home

My parents are thinking of coming home for good after staying in the US for more than a decade. We told them that it’s their decision and we will support them wherever they want to stay. They can stay with me and my sis here in Marikina, or they can go to my brother in New Zealand, or they can go to the province if that’s what they want. Regardless of where, we are also thankful that they have social security benefits that we don’t have to worry whatever happens to them.

Entertainment

Whenever we go to the province, I usually bring lots of toys so that the kids won’t get bored during the long drive. Like there was a time that we got stuck in traffic and thanks to the toys and some food, the kids didn’t mind the traffic. The nannies on the other hand listened to their MP3 players to keep them entertained. I’ve been thinking of buying an iTouch to serve as my entertainment during these times. I can’t afford and iPhone yet and the iTouch can serve its purpose. I better search online for the best deal!

Wait and See

Here I am again at the hotel. I’ve been here a week already but still don’t know when I’ll be heading back home. The hotel isn’t that bad. My room feels a little cramped and a little dim too. Maybe they should try using Quoizel lighting in the rooms. But then, I’m only in my room for a few hours to sleep so I don’t really mind. From the looks of it, I’ll be back here after maybe a week or two. Maybe they’ve changed the lights by then. Let's wait and see.

Another Trip

Here I am again, on another out-of-town trip. In projects like these, you’re bound to be dog-tired at the end of the day. It’s times like these that I wish I could just get rv loans so I could just maybe drive to work then park the rv at or near the site so at the end of the day, I wouldn’t have to get a ride to the hotel which could be a long way from the work site.
