Expenses

Most of the employees here in our office are complaining on their monthly payables due to the increase on all household expenses such as food, grocery items, utilities, and so on.  They were asking the management if there will be an increase in the salary because we haven't had an increase this year.  The management has not responded yet and the employees are hoping that once they respond, it will be on a positive result.  Some are also starting to renovate their houses to ensure that it won't be affected especially now that the rainy season has started.  Some are making sure that their roof is secured and that there are no holes so as to prevent leaks come rainy days.

Another employee also mentioned that it's also enrollment time for one of her kids that she doesn't know yet where she will get the money.  She applied for a loan and was thankful that the company gave her cash advance credit that she made it on time in paying the tuition fee.  Because of that, her child was able to take her exams and continue going to school.  Employees are really thankful that our company understands the need for extra money in times like this that each one is allowed to loan as long as it meets the requirements.  Once qualified, it will be included in the payroll for the employee to withdraw.

There are times that I also feel and experience what our employees are going through especially now that my son started going to school.  We need to have enough cash come enrollment time and at the same time, have enough money for our monthly expenses, a huge chunk of it are allotted to groceries, payment for the electricity and the wages of the nannies that sometimes we don't have anything left for our savings.  Thankfully though, my husband and I have stable jobs that can sustain and support us with our needs.

Provincial Trip

Next week, I’ll be going out of town with my boss to visit one of our regional heads and assist him in meeting up with his clients particularly those who are interested in renewable energy. It will be my first out of town trip in the new department I’m handling and as early as now, I feel nervous because I don’t know what will happen. Good thing my boss is there so I’m sure, he will guide me on how everything will go. But I know that before the trip, I need to be ready and equip myself with the technical details about our product. I’m sure there will be a lot of questions raised on the details of how our product works.

My boss said I should expect a few more out of town trips especially since our product is new and most of the regional heads are not so familiar with it yet. I really hope we will be able to contribute to the sales of the company with this new division that we have. I also am looking forward to visit the different areas across the country where we have our offices. But on the other hand, I’m sure I am going to miss my family because most probably, the visits will be for a minimum of four days. If only I can bring them with me when I work; we can probably look for vacation rentals where they can stay but I know right now it’s not possible. My son has school and I don’t want to drag him wherever I go, plus bringing them with me will entail costs that we can’t afford to spend now. We are saving money hopefully to have a vacation by next year.

Anyhow, I really pray that I will learn a lot on this provincial trip and that there will be great results when we come back. Wish us luck! :)

Collections

I remember my mom used to collect different coins from different countries and also the old coins from our own country in different denomination. I can still picture her coin bank and the numerous coins inside it. Too bad a thief took it away when our family went out of town for a vacation so the thief can freely take away what he wants. He took our jewelries and my mom’s coin collection and most of our stuff. I don’t know how much the values of those things are but we’re just thankful that it didn’t happen while we were there. I’m also thankful that my mom’s collection doesn’t have bullion there or else we could have lost more because its value is higher than my mom’s coin collection. Hopefully soon, my mom will once again start having her new collection. :)

Salt

I watched this movie a few weeks ago with my husband and sister. Thanks to citibank’s promo we got our tickets for free! Anyhow, I liked the movie because of its non-stop action. Although there are times that the stunts seems impossible but still the movie is awesome! And Angelina Jolie is so gorgeous! She looks really pretty regardless of what color her hair is or whatever her get-up is, or even when she’s just wearing a bonnet! I’m not sure if it is still showing in the theaters, but if you have not seen it yet, do find time to watch it because it’s definitely worth watching!

Giant Day

If I were to buy a Balenciaga bag, I think this will be the style that I will buy. The Giant Day in Peony. I like the style and the softness of the color. The only problem is, if the husband will allow me to buy it. I hope it’s going to be soon. :)

Treasure

Have you ever thought of what your greatest treasure is? I’m sure most of us will say that our family is our greatest treasure. Some will say it’s their friends, or their material thinks like bags or gadgets. And some people will say that their wealth is their greatest treasure and would continue to buy gold coins so that they’ll have more of it. I heard that the US Gold Bureau is a great source of gold coins. No matter what it is that each of us considers our treasure, I’m sure we will do everything we can to take care of it no matter what.

Dark Eyes

My friends have been saying that they stayed late for the past few days because they are happily swamped with online works that they need the best eye cream to cover up for their dark eyes. I’m really happy that online works are pouring because that would mean we will have money to buy things that we need and hopefully some extra for shopping. I received online works also but not as much as what my friends receive but I’m happy with it. I just hope that we won’t stop receiving these works because Christmas is near and we are all looking forward to Christmas shopping. :)

Laptop Bags

My husband and I recently bought laptop bags for ourselves because we really need one already. My husband’s previous laptop bag is worn out and needs replacement and as for me, I need a bigger bag so that I will be bringing one bag only when I go to work especially when I commute. I love the size of my bag for I can put all of my things inside and as for my husband, he said he loves his new bag too because it’s lighter than his previous one. I bought mine online while my husband’s bag was bought by my online friend who announced to us that there is a sale near their place. Thanks again sis! Now we are both using our bags already.

Hydroponic Supplies for Soilless Plants

You may have seen some decorative plants around on display in stores or maybe in somebody’s home. Have you noticed that some of them are planted in materials other than soil? I have seen these before but only thought that these plants would have a very short lifespan due to the lack of soil. Boy, was I so wrong. It turns out that these plants – and just about any terrestrial plant, as a matter of fact - can grow like this. It turns out that plants don’t really need the actual soil, only the mineral nutrients present in them. Yeah there are water plants and they don’t need soil but we’re talking about terrestrial plants here. I felt like a foolish and ignorant adult once I learned that. This method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil is called hydroponics. The term was coined during the early 20th century but the method has been practiced as early as the 17th century.

By reading about the subject, it looks as it is more complicated than it looks. Hydroponics isn’t just putting a plant in a jar with water and leaving it there to grow. There are a lot of things to consider for hydroponic supplies. The first is whether a solution culture or medium culture is to be used. These two types are further subdivided into categories depending on the solution or medium used. Possibly the simplest and cheapest way is to use a plastic bucket or jar to contain the nutrient solution then cut a hole in the lid for each plant. If the solution is unaerated, the solution must be low enough as to leave enough roots above the solution to absorb oxygen. If an aerated system is preferred, you can use regular aquarium pumps, tubing, and valves for home systems. Also, be sure to replace the solution periodically, say once a week, depending on concentration levels. Hydroponics has a big potential. You may not know it but you may already have consumed tomatoes and vegetables that were grown in commercial hydroponics facilities.

From Rocawear to Repetition: Fashion Tips for Busy Moms

You remember days when the hours belonged to you and you alone -- when you could devote every moment to finding pleasure and self-actualization. Those days, you’ve discovered, are gone. They’ve been replaced by children and all their happy demands. You’re a mother, a secret-keeper and a constant friend. And fashion has been forgotten in the transition. It can, however, be found again.

Having a Rocawear sensibility is possible for parents. The challenge comes not from choosing style, but instead from tailoring that style to all of your daily needs. Function can be beautiful. You simply must understand the necessities:

1. Be a wise buyer: The occasional indulgence is understood. You want all the pretty things and their prettier promises. But your time rarely allows you the luxury of expensive fabrics and slinky silhouettes. Choose classic pieces that will see repeated usage. Don’t waste money on too specific items that can rarely be worn and offer no practicality. Budget your dollars carefully.

2. Use easy fabrics: Your afternoons are hectic, stuffed to sand and shadow-tag; and you can’t play with your children if you’re worried always of the inevitable stains and smears. Fashion does not have to be delicate. It can instead be found in natural fabrics, like cotton, wool or hemp. Focus on the fit of clothes to blend your needs together.

3. Shop online: You have no seconds to spare -- your days are scheduled around school, recitals, recipes and more. A mother’s work is never done. And, because of this, you can’t always find time to drive to boutiques or favored stores. The online alternative removes that need. Discover a massive selection of styles without having to leave home; which becomes ideal when you’re juggling children, dinner and conversation with your partner. You want perfect design and perfect comfort. Now you can have them both.

Partnerships

We have a project coming up wherein we partnered with a small company to penetrate a certain market niche. There are certain markets where we can’t go to directly, so we create partnerships with other companies. Some of these companies are relatively small and usually they turn to financial institutions that offer asset based lending services for them to maximize their borrowing capacity. It really is good to have these types of institutions that help small companies and startups.

Data Center

It looks like there’s a new assignment that’s about to start. This time, a customer is setting up a data center in one of their new offices. They’re currently expanding their business including data center services, hence their new requirement. This might take quite a while for the integration of all their new equipment plus the battery of tests that are needed to be performed for it to be fully operational. But what’s important is that the job gets done.

Ipod

I had my first iPod 5 years ago, the model has been obsolete already and since then I haven’t bought a new one. I’ve been reading ipod reviews in magazines and the internet and everybody says it has improved since then. They made it compact like the iPod nano but with large memories. They even now have an iPod touch which has very good reviews as well. Some of my friends attest to it and they love it especially when they are travelling. A lot has improved already and it’s about time that I replace my iPod. :)

Trick or Treat

My twitter friends have been discussing the costumes they want their kids to wear on halloween when they go for trick and treat. I saw the link they posted and I tried to search costumes for my kids as well. My son loves Iron Man but I’m not sure if he’s willing to wear a mask to look like ironman. As for my daughter, I haven’t chosen yet what will her costume be. I also searched for costumes for adults and I found some sexy costumes that looks cute and wholesome and I’m thinking of buying one for myself too. There are news in the office that we might have a trick or treat for the first time and I heard that they are giving a prize for the best in costume. I might as well prepare for that. :)

LC Special Edition

Friends were discussing yesterday the latest Long Champ Special Asian Edition which has The Great Wall of China print on the classic Le Pliage. One friend purchased one already and is just waiting for the arrival while the others are checking on the price and consolidating their orders to send to our friend in HK. The bag is really nice plus and I love it's asian touch. Now I'm thinking of getting one for myself too! We'll see! :)

Precious Investments

If you’re just like everybody else, you have most probably wondered about investing your hard earned money into something secure and profitable. Analysts predict that the price of gold could rise to $3000 per ounce, making it sound like the right investment. There are reputable companies out there like the United States Gold Bureau where you can make your purchases of gold and other precious metals, be it in bullion, bars, or coins. Aside from being an accredited dealer, they also provide tons of news and information on their chosen industry. There are articles from professional financial advisers sharing their opinions on buying gold. Whether you’d like to invest in gold or you’re simply a collector, these guys might be able to help you out.

4 Steps to Food Safety

Pay special attention to food handling and preparation, especially during the hot summer months. Most at risk from food-borne illnesses are the elderly, people with weakened immune systems from cancer and other disorders, pregnant women, and children. These tips can reduce your exposure to food-borne diseases:

Keep clean. Frequently wash hands and all surfaces that touch food. Bacteria can spread throughout the kitchen cutting boards, knives, countertops, sponges, and brushes.

Separate foods. Keep raw meat, poultry, seafood, and their juices away from fresh vegetables and other foods that are ready to eat.

Cook food thoroughly. Food is properly cooked when it is brought to the required internal temperature long enough to kill harmful bacteria that cause food-borne illnesses.

Chill properly. Refrigerate foods promptly to stop harmful bacteria from multiplying.

Gold Standard

We were discussing just a short while ago on how we can earn more. We’ve considered the franchising route since we heard it’s quite profitable, but I’m not really the business-minded kind of guy. Stocks are also an option but that too require a lot of know-how and the tricks of the trade to really succeed. So the idea of investing in gold came to mind. You can buy gold coins and other precious metals from reputable companies and then hold on to it until you decide to sell it – for a profit of course. Gold has been a measure of one’s wealth since ancient times, and that still proves true today.

Chic and Comfy

Power dressing is about being comfortable in the clothes you wear. People who have sensitive skin and are prone to allergies keep this in mind when selecting clothes.

Webmd.com says smooth, soft, natural fabrics, such as fine cotton and silk, are best worn next to the skin. Cotton is cool where silk is warm, but both are absorbent, able to draw body moisture away from the skin. Rayon and linen are also comfortable for sensitive skin, although they are heavier than cotton or silk. If you have sensitive skin, choose loose clothing with a minimum of potentially irritating creases and folds.

Laundry tips for sensitive skin:

  • Buy biodegradable, fragrance-free laundry detergents with no petrochemicals. These are also better for the environment.
  • Always wash new clothes before wearing them to remove any chemical residue.
  • Allow the sun, not chlorine, to bleach your clothing. A lemon juice rinse, followed by time in the sun, is more effective than bleach.

Dealing With Workplace Conflicts

Work is often most stressful when it is high pressured and you have minimal or no support and limited control. Dealing with conflict in the workplace requires good communication skills, tolerance, and fair mechanisms for dealing with disputes. However, remember that the annoying behavior of a colleague is beyond your control. Taking the following steps allows you to focus on what you can control and get ahead with your task.

Be realistic about how much work you can achieve within given time frames. Do not take on extra tasks unless given adequate support and resources to complete them.

Make lists of what you need to achieve in the order of their importance. Fight any tendency to procrastinate.

If a task seems too huge, do not let it overawe you. Make a start and remember to complete it bit by bit.

If a task really does prove to be too big, always ask for help. Let your employer know that you may need extra time, advice, or assistance to complete it.

Beauty School

I have a friend whom I haven’t heard in a long time and I was surprised when she sent me an email about a week ago. Some of our friends are also asking about her and I’m really glad when I read her email. She said she’s now married with one kid and is living in Kansas. She said she also pursued her dream in cosmetology and enrolled in a beauty school in Wichita which is known as a good school and has been around for more than 50 years. I am really happy for her and I can’t wait to share this news to our friends.

Renewable Energy

Our company now is diversifying into renewable energy and I was transferred to that group to head one of its businesses. With the diversification, there are several products from the solar department that a lot of people are interested. We have solar fan, which I find nice since it’s not only a fan but it has light also. Plus it’s not totally dependent on the sun since there’s provision for the user to plug it and use electricity. Other products include street lamps, led flashlights which we use as token for our speakers when they visit our office and a lot more. Our division now is in full bloom and I really hope all these projects will have good financial impact in our company.

Asya

My officemate treated us in Asya, a newly-opened restaurant in Centris, somewhere in Quezon City. Their food is yummy although I find it a little expensive because they have small servings. Nevertheless, we enjoyed it so much. As I mentioned, the food is superb and the ambiance is nice and cozy. I specifically like the one in the picture; the crispy hito with green mango. Try it when you visit them. I'm sure you won't regret it. :)

Goyard

I have heard of this bag from online friends when they were talking about it in twitter. I saw the pictures they shared and I like how the bag looks like and I love it even more when I saw it in real life. This is included in my wish list which I think and know that the husband will disapprove. Again, he will tell me that it is impractical to buy designer bags. Hayz! When will he understand? Hehe! I should really be serious in investing on gold coins so that by the time I want to buy designer bags, these investments will serve its purpose. I know it will be a good investment since gold coins not only protect wealth but also preserves one’s purchasing power.

Lasik

I have been dependent on eyeglasses for over 16 years now and have been thinking of getting treatment for a long time already. I am nearsighted with astigmatism, though the degree isn't really that bad – just above a hundred if I remember correctly. A problem I've encountered is that I find it hard to use sunglasses. If I want to use glasses, I should first remove m eyeglasses, put on my shades, and then stow my eyeglasses. And if I needed my glasses again, I'd have to do the same thing again. Plus, I can't use just any other frame since regular frames tend to corrode from sweat so I have to use those titanium frames – not exactly cheap. So after searching the interweb, I came across San Diego Lasik Surgery. It's a very informative site that has a lot of details and information about the treatment for would-be patients like me, and should you have questions unanswered in the site, they can be contacted easily as their number is right there on the homepage. Testimonials from former patients attest the capabilities of Lasik Surgery San Diego and how they have the best technology to correct your vision. Having 99% of their patients having 20/20 vision or better also sounds like a good point. Prices are what drive off some people from getting treatment but these people offer financing making treatment available for everyone. They also have a blog in which they share articles on health and wellness. So as someone who's dependent on glasses, Lasik surgery is the path to take.

Organize Your Money Trails

It's no fun when your financial records are in disarray. It's certainly stressful when you can't find much-needed records. To prevent such meltdowns, here's a guide to one-time moves that will keep your paper trail free from clutter.

Once a day. Take note of how much cash you have on hand and record how much is left at the end of the day. Keep track of this so you can actually account for your expenses down to the last cent. This way, you'll be more aware of your spending habits.

Once a week. Organize your receipts, billing statements, invoice, and other money-related paperwork. Use ledger or a computer program where you can consolidate all this data. Have back-up copies o your records. Photocopy them and then place them in a safe place.

Once a month. Pay your bills on time and follow up on debts you've owed. Create checklist for this monthly reckoning. Consider keeping track of the pattern of your utility bills so you can more or less predict how much you'll spend each month.

Once a quarter. Consult your organized documents and filing systems so you can get an accurate picture of your progress towards meeting your personal financial goals. Make the necessary adjustments to spending, savings, or investments.

Once a year. Do some spring cleaning. Update your files and discard outdated items. Remember that you don't have to keep all your financial records forever. You can keep any tax-related records for seven years, bank statements for one year, and pay slips until you receive your end-of-the-year tax statements. Meanwhile records of Social Security System contributions and documents for big-ticket items should be kept permanently - or until the said item has been "retired" or, perhaps sold.

*Got this from my BDJ planner

6 Habits to Develop Now

Scientists are racing against time to find cures for chronic and often fatal lifestyle diseases. But we can also take measures to protect ourselves from them. Here, six simple but effective ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

1. Eat a balanced diet. Go for variety in your food choices, choosing a balanced mix of good fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals, and fiber in your meals. Vegetables and fruits are good sources of nutrients: avoid junk foods such as chips, packaged meat products, and high-sugar containing sodas.

2. Exercise regularly. Regular physical activity improves blood circulation, lung capacity, and muscular strength. A stronger body means a stronger immune system. Try going for a brisk walk or playing games with your kids if you can't afford expensive gym fees.

3. Get enough sleep. A good night's snooze helps your body relax, repair, and recharge itself after a hard day's work. At least seven hours of sleep a day is considered sufficient rest.

4. Quit your vices. Cigarette smoking is associated with chronic diseases like cancer, stroke, and heart disease. Alcohol especially if taken in excess, can harm your internal organs, like the liver and kidney.

5. Stay hydrated. Because 70% of our body is water, it's important to drink enough fluids to function properly.

6. Go for regular medical checkups. Sometimes our bodies won't give signs hat something is wrong. Even before we start to feel symptoms, regular medical consult should be a habit.

Getting In Shape

Smart eating and regular exercise are keys to a healthy heart.

To eat smart, choose vegetables, fruits, fibers, lean cuts o meat and pork, skinless chicken, and fish. Avoid high-fat meats like sausage, burgers, pastries, and high-sugar food and drinks.

Exercise for at least 30 minutes everyday, five days a week, as recommended by the World Health Organization. Make regular exercise enjoyable by exercising with a buddy, playing upbeat songs while working out, or getting glammed up in nice exercise clothes.

During your next visit to the doctor, ask how you can raise your HDL levels and keep your bad cholesterol low to protect yourself against life-threatening cardiovascular ailments.

STD Testing

There was news that I heard that for me was quite alarming. The news said that nowadays more and more people are getting sexually transmitted disease and that the age of those affected are getting younger over the years. The news also specified that one the business sector that ahs the most STD victims are those that are working on shifting schedules like call centers. A STD patient also bravely appeared on TV (although covered and only the voice was heard) to proved that the news was true. Well for me it was really a distressing truth. What would become of our society after five more years? I just hope that this specific be addressed by the government and that proper action will be done. STD is alarming but if given serious attention (by the victim) it can be prevented and cured. There are institutions now that handles cases like these with complete confidentiality. One of the reasons why a person with this disease is reluctant to undergo std testing is because of embarrassment. But if one will be assured of total confidentiality help and treatment will be given immediately. Almost all centers these days do same day std testing that way, the patient will not be force to make several visits making him avoid familiarity with the people within the place. With this kind of service, more and more std patients will be encourage to be treated.
