3 Easy Modifications to Standard Business Cards

While most printing shops offer a wide array of options for their business cards, many professionals continue to stick with relatively standard settings. However even incorporating just one of the following options can make your card stand out, with out jeapordizing its ability to fit in.

Since printing technology has come a long way in a short time, the ability to include more complicated designs like logos and pictures is no longer outrageously expensive. For this reason, adding a logo or full color picture can not only be incredibly affordable, it can also be extremely wise. Adding just one picture to the front of back of a business card is an easy way to make your card eye catching and memorable.

Another simple technique for drawing attention to your business card is color manipulation. Long gone are the days of white stock cards with only four colored ink options. Now, every aspect of the business card can be colorful and original, from the fonts to the logos to the card itself. Just a simple color choice can help make your card the most attractive one in the bunch.

Finally, texture choices are a relatively new development in the business card market, but they can be the most rewarding of all. Business cards are not only available for print on regular cardstock, but now many of them are being offered on clear plastic, playing cards, fabric and more. Depending on your profession, you can choose a card that highlights your creativity and originality while also choosing a texture that best represents your work.

By choosing just one area of your business card to improve, you can be sure that the overall product will also improve greatly. Options in color, texture and design are the key to an eye catching and effective business card.

Experimenting with Sports

I’ve always wanted to be one of those girls who watch sports with a group of guys. I have a lot of guy friends, and I always felt lost when they talked about their favorite sports teams, fantasy football leagues, and their latest sportsbooks wagers. But they never talked about sports with me, and I hardly ever watched games on TV, so I had literally no knowledge of the teams or the rules. So, I decided to make a conscious decision to become a fan. Here are some of the things I did to educate myself and become a fan just like my guy friends.

The first thing I did was learn the names of the teams. When football season was approaching, I looked up the names for the teams in the league. I familiarized myself with their colors and a few of the names of the players. I paid particular attention to the teams that my friends liked so I could discuss them intelligently while watching the games.

The next thing I did was invite myself to the football game parties that my male friends had each week. I didn’t just invite myself over to watch, but I volunteered to make snacks and things for the day. This ensured an invitation, and I could easily work my way into the group in front of the TV and watch the games. Since my friends assumed I didn’t know anything about the sport, they would explain things to me as they happened.

Finally, I listened to the guys as they talked. You can pick up on various statistics and other important aspects of the game just by keeping an open ear. During the week, I would also research some stats myself and make notes.

These days, many of my friends are asking for my thoughts for wagers and fantasy league picks!

How to Clean Your Jewelry

Many people buy jewelry and never give it a second thought about wearing it when going out on the town. The best pieces of jewelry you can buy are those that accentuate your body and show off your style. If you want to be fashionable and able to show your styles off around town, you want to learn how to keep your jewelry clean because everyone likes shiny jewelry.

Chopard jewelry makes premium jewelry for women that can definitely make you stand out in a crowd. If you have gold Chopard jewelry, place it in a very mild detergent mixed with water solution for about three minutes. Avoid products containing ammonia or chlorine because both of those can cause a discoloration to your jewelry metal. Once the jewelry has soaked, gently brush it with a soft brush in order to remove the dirt that has built up. Once this is done, rinse the jewelry in warm water and thoroughly dry with a towel.

If you have silver Chopard jewelry, you will need to remove tarnish buildup. To make a silver dip solution, line a large bowl with aluminum foil along the sides. Place the jewelry inside and cover it lightly with baking soda. Pour very hot water over the jewelry and wait until the bubbling subsides. Once it has stopped, rinse and buff the jewelry pieces until they shine. This process may have to be repeated for those pieces that have tarnish caked on.

To clean diamonds, place the diamond in a solution of mild detergent mixed with water for about five minutes. Scrub the diamond for a few minutes and then rinse the solution from the diamond. You will then be able to buff the diamond dry in order to see its natural shine. By properly taking care of your jewelry now, you will be able to enjoy it for many years to come.

Maybe a Future Home?

I love New York. It's such a fun place to be, and there's just so much to do. Every time I go I wish I could stay longer. I've been there several times now, and the hardest part about visiting is picking what I want to do. There's never enough time to do everything I want to do. New York is so big! I can never decide between doing more things I've never done before or doing the things I've done and I know I love from other trips.

A friend of mine told me about a resurgence in
New York condos being developed. She said now would be a great time to buy because the market is a bit down and prices aren't as high as they were a couple of years ago. I don't know if I could just uproot myself all of a sudden, but I can't deny the idea is pretty exciting. I love theater, and the idea of going to Broadway on a whim is just thrilling. I've only walked briefly through Central Park while I was in New York before. After all, why spend all my time in a park when I only have so much time in New York? But it was a great sight, and there were so many things to do. I can only imagine going out on a nice summer's day.

It's definitely more expensive to live out there than a lot of other places, but I heard that some
New York condos start at around $300,000, which isn't as much as I would have guessed for Manhattan. It wouldn't be as much space as I could get in a house outside of the city, but I'd be gaining so much more just by being right in the heart of the city. She really got me thinking about it.

Baptism Gifts and What to Give

When attending a baptism, it is customary for people attending the baptism or the celebration afterwards to give a gift to the child or adult that is being baptized. Many people buy a money card and place money into it, which usually ends up in the child's bank account for future uses. You can however, give other gifts to celebrate a person being baptized.

Many people will often give a gift such as a rosary or a Bible. You can choose to give it to them like it is or have it personalized. If you're going to personalize it, think of a thoughtful saying that the person baptized can read and remember you by. Photo frames are also popular, with a photo of the event included in the photo frame. Go to your local film developing store and choose the best picture that reminds you of how special that day was. Include a note with the photo frame letting the person baptized know how special that day was for them.

Others give jewelry, such as
John Hardy jewelry. There are many pieces to choose from and picking out the most special bracelet, ring or necklace will show the person just how great you thought the event was. Try to pick something that the person can wear often and can use it to accessorize their wardrobe.

A gift basket is another option to choose from. With a gift basket, you are able to put many gifts into one basket. That way, if you can't decide on one thing, include them all! Ideas for gift baskets include books, crosses, stuffed animals or even personally crocheted gifts.

There are also other options to purchase prayer books with the person's name embroidered on them. That way they can pray with their own unique copy. Personalized gifts are great to give to show your appreciation and love.

Refinancing with Good Rates

With the economy's nosedive recently, everyone seems to be a little strapped for cash. Clipping coupons and taking advantage of sales isn't just for penny pinchers anymore. Another area worth looking into if you're trying to save money as the economy slugs along is refinancing. You probably hear the word "refinancing" popping up in more and more places, and more and more people are taking advantage of it. Refinancing is basically taking your current home mortgage term and trading it in for something better: something that could save a lot of money. By refinancing, you could be making smaller monthly mortgage payments and have lower interest. This could mean freeing up extra money each month for the things you've really got your heart set on.

Of course, when you look into refinancing, you want to get the best rate. You don't want to refinance and end up saving next to nothing. Refinance rates will go up and down depending on where you are, so it's important to do some investigating. Average Kansas refinance rates, for example, can vary depending on whether you live in Kansas City or Wichita. Your current credit rating and loan terms can have an affect your refinance rate as well, so it's important to take those into consideration as you do your research: you don't want to refinance and end up paying more.

Rates for anywhere and everywhere can be found with a little Internet browsing or through a few phone calls. Your friends and neighbors may even be able to point you in the direction of a great refinance rate; they may be saving on their monthly payments because they just refinanced themselves. So take the time to shop around. You'll be doing it for yourself and your family!

Mega Tent Sale

My sister and I were at the mega tent this morning to check out what items are on sale. There were really nice and very affordable items from various stores on sale including, shoes, bags, shirts, dresses, swimsuits, lingerie, vga cable with audio, iphone and ipod accessories, and a lot more. I was hoping to buy a pair of flat shoes that’s 50% off but unfortunately, they don’t have my size. I also saw a nice swimsuit that’s almost 70% off but no available size again. :(

Surprisingly, there were only a few people at the tent even if there’s a huge mark down on the prices. I guess because it’s not payday yet and also because there are no Christmas bonus yet. I do hope that when they have a sale again, there will be something that has my size. :)

Learn From my Mistakes: You Need Emergency Cash!

Like most Americans before the economic downturn of 2008, I didn't understand the importance of saving money. It's not like I spent irrationally, but I spent everything I had after rent and bills were paid in full. When you're working, it's easy to take your paycheck for granted, but what happens if said paycheck were to disappear for an extended period? I never realized how important it was to save money, until it was too late.

Now, almost two years later since a steady paycheck, I am constantly telling people about the importance of saving money. Instead of using my potential savings, I had to resort to credit cards, which would eventually be the death of my financial portfolio. Like many Americans, my credit card was my savings account, but one can only sustain on Visa and MasterCard for so long, before hitting rock bottom. The lesson? Save money when times are good, preparing yourself for a sustainable future.

Emergency Cash Bails You Out

With maxed-out credit cards and bills looming overhead,
emergency cash was the only realistic way out. In many ways, it was an actual emergency because I lost my job because of a budget-strung state legislature, but this emergency should have been avoided. Emergency cash helped me pay my bills and make ends meet while finding additional opportunities for success. Finding work during the midst of a recession is difficult, but finding legitimate emergency cash is even harder.

Now, after surviving a personal crisis and financial disaster, I’ve created my own emergency fund, known as a high-yield savings account. Learn from my mistakes by depositing a percentage of your paycheck in an emergency cash savings account, which earns interest while the money accrues over time.

Bathrooms

When I go to hotels, one of the things that I look into right away is the bathrooms.  I'm very particular with it for I want the bathrooms to be clean, and the smell to be fresh.  It goes the same to the restaurants where I eat.  Sometimes, if I am not happy or satisfied with the bathroom amenities, I don't go back to the restaurant anymore. And of course, I make sure that the bathroom in our house is clean also.

Speaking of houses and bathrooms, I remember my cousin who bought a lot recently and is now having their house constructed.  She is looking where she can buy things for her bathroom.  I told her about the site which has bathroom suite and told her she can find everything she needs there; from toilet seats, wash basins, shower systems, tiles, etc, all can be found in the site.  I told her that the website is very nice also and very informative.  You can easily track your order and they even send you an sms confirming that your order has been dispatched.  I told her to visit the site right away since they are on sale now so she can avail of their big discounts.

Bees and Stings

Mosquito or sandfly bites and bee, wasp or jellyfish stings can cause anything from short-lived, mild irritation to severe swelling and pain. For some, they mean a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires immediate medical attention. For people who are not allergic, however, below are first aid treatments:

  • Remove any stinger by scraping it with blunt knife or fingernail. Avoid pinching it, as this ay squeeze more venom in the wound
  • Jellyfish tentacles should be washed off with salt water.
  • Apply an ice pack, wrapped in a towel, for 10 to 20 minutes to reduce pain and inflammation.
  • Mild reactions to insect bites can be eased with an anti-inflammatory hydrocortisone cream, antihistamine cream, or calamine lotion to cool and soothe. They should not be used if the skin is broken.
  • If the reaction is more severe, oral antihistamines may help relieve symptoms, including itching, swelling, and hives.

Almost

Twitter friends were on shopping mode again this morning. One of the websites where they buy cheap long champ were on sale and they need to decide before 12pm. Good thing I don’t have extra money on my paypal account or else I could have joined them and bought a bag for myself too. The red cabas on the picture looks really nice and comes very cheap. I hope there will be another sale before the year ends. *wink wink*

Unsuccessful

My friend had been using Accutane in treating her acne but had been unsuccessful in achieving her desired results. In fact, she even suffered cramping, diarrhea, frequent bowel movements and other inflammation in her abdomen. She said she’s been researching on Accutane Lawsuit because she plans to file a case to the doctor who prescribed it to her without telling her the side effects. To those who don’t know what Accutane is, it is a form of Vitamin A to treat severe, cystic acne. It is given to patients who tried other acne medicines or antibiotics but did not get results they needed. I told my friend that she should be more careful next time in taking the medicines prescribed to her.

Movies Again

I've mentioned before that my sister is downloading light romance movies that I get to watch too. Recently, I watched Leap Year, a film about a girl who wants to follow the tradition in Ireland where in ladies are the ones proposing to their man on a Leap Year. I also watched an old film, Chasing Liberty because my sis and I like it when we saw it in the movies a few years back. Both films stars Matthew Goode and he looks cute on those movies. I'm sure you know already the story of Chasing Liberty since it's been shown 6 years ago. Anyhow, these two movies kept me awake during one of those nights that I need to work. I hope my sister has a new movie downloaded so I can watch a movie again. :D

Wish List

Christmas is near and I’m sure most of us are listing down the names of our friends and relatives, especially our godchildren whom we would give gifts to. At the same time, I’m sure we also have our own lists as to what we want to receive this Christmas. As for me, I’d like to have at least one of the attached pictures. Take note, if I can have only one of those, then I’m a happy gal. But of course I don’t mind receiving all of it. So I’d like to knock on the door of my dear husband, maybe you could get the gold coins you got from United States Gold Bureau and use it for buying any of these. At least you don’t have to think anymore as to what I want to receive for Christmas. :D

Down to the Bone

Prolonged steroid therapy to manage pain or inflammation can result in thinning bones and increase the risk of fractures. Here are some tips to help maintain bone strength while taking steroids:
  • Take calcium supplements and milk products, like cheese or yogurt, to get the minimum calcium intake of at least 1500 milligrams a day.
  • Take multivitamins to ensure a minimum o 400 IU of vitamin D a day to help or sustain calcium absorption.
  • Reduce or eliminate smoking and alcohol.
  • Do weight-bearing exercises, such as walking, running, and dancing to help stabilize bone mass and promote balance and flexibility.
  • Assess risk of falls by installing safety measures at home, such as night lights, padded corners, or supportive railings.

Glee Season 2

I’m sure almost all of us are going to be glued to the television or waiting on their laptops to download the first episode of glee. I’ve seen a couple of sneak previews already and I too got excited. I’d like to see what will happen to the gleeks this season; for Finn and Rachel, Puck and Quinn, and I’d also like to see how Charice Pempengco will fare when she performs with them. I’m sure it’s going to be awesome! It’s only a few days left and we will see them again!

Save the Earth

Almost everyone now is aware of the importance of saving our mother earth. I’m sure we all feel the effects of global warning that’s why we do our share to save the earth in our own little ways. People have different activities and campaigns on how to do it. Most companies encourage employees to use reusable bags when they go shopping. I think it’s a brilliant idea since these can serve as promotional tote bags because the company name is printed on it. They can tell the world thru their bags that they are doing their share in saving the earth. Other organizations do marathons to raise funds in cleaning the river, which also is a good idea. Not only do they raise funds but they also encourage people to be healthy. I’m glad people now are aware that we should all be responsible in protecting the planet where we live.

New Approach

Maybe I should use a different approach in trying to lose weight. Instead of just losing weight, why not add in some exercise coupled with a muscle building supplement. It’s going to be like hitting two birds with one stone. You get to lose weight, beef up your muscles and get physically fit. Okay, so that sounded like three birds with one stone. What’s important is it’s for one’s health, right? 0 comments

Shortlist

There are tons of weight loss products out there that all say the same thing, that they are the best weight loss product for you. I’ve never really tried using weight loss products before, I’ve only tried the fruits-only-for-dinner diet and it did work, albeit a bit expensive. I’ve been searching the net for products I could use with my often packed schedule and have trimmed down my choices to a few. Here’s hoping that they work great.

Excited

Next week, most of the tv shows that I watch will start airing their new seasons again. Glee, Chuck, Grey’s Anatomy and Fringe are the ones I’m talking about. I really am looking forward to it because they all had a great season ender last time and I’m sure the first episode for their new season will be awesome. I should ready myself for I might probably sleep late on those nights that they are shown in tv. I hope staying up late is considered as one of the top fat burners for your body and I won’t mind doing it. :D I’m sure everyone will agree with me. Hehe! I can’t wait for next week! I do hope I’ll be able to watch their first episode.

When In Rome

I saw this movie the other night when my sister downloaded a few movies on her laptop. I don’t know who the stars are but I love the lead characters especially the female lead in her petite clothing. She looks pretty and it really suits her. Anyhow, when in rome is light romantic comedy where the female lead who is unlucky in love took some of the coins from the fountain of love in Rom and the owner of these coins fell for her, including the one she met at her sister’s wedding. The guy is in love with her but she’s skeptical if his feelings are true. Watch it and find out. :)

Looking For

I am badly in need of effective weight loss products. I don’t think I get enough sleep at night, I tend to overeat, and I usually hit the sack right after having dinner. I wake up too early in the morning and get home too late at night so I don’t have time for proper exercise. I have to read up on these products so I can get the really effective ones.

Burn

We’ll be attending the christening of our friends’ daughter tomorrow morning. A reception would follow the baptism at a Chinese restaurant not far from the church. A few weeks ago, we also attended a baptism and the reception was held at the same place we’ll be going to tomorrow. The food there is great so I’m sure I’m going to have my fill. From the looks of it, I better take some thermogenic fat burners to help me speed up my metabolism to shed off a few pounds.

Cravings

I just had dinner but wanted to munch on something else to get rid of the taste in my mouth, so I had a slice of white bread. After dinner, I watched a little TV then went up to the room to check on the kids and then went online. Right now I want to sink my teeth into something else, maybe a chocolate bar or two. If I keep this up, I’m sure I would need to get some diet pills that work.

This Time It's Japan

I saw this nice bag online and if only I have extra money I could have ordered one for myself. I should have bought gold coins along time ago from US Gold Bureau and I’m sure by this time it has increased its value and I could have bought a new bag for myself. I should really start investing and collecting assets that increase its value over time so that whenever I need extra money, I know where to get it. Next time I’ll visit the site of US Gold Bureau for I heard good feedbacks about them and hopefully soon, I’ll be able to invest in gold. For now, I just have to make a pass on this new bag and hopefully before Christmas, I’ll be able to buy a new one. :)

Vacation

My sister is leaving next month for her annual vacation. This year she’ll go to the US again so she can help my parents in packing their things and accompany them on their way home. They’ll be coming back here in the Philippines for good. My sister will be gone for three weeks and she asked me to look after her car and the expenses needed for it while she’s gone. She also said she’ll leave me money to pay for the car insurance which is due next month also. I told not to worry that I’ll make sure I’ll take care of her car but she should shop for me and the kids while she’s there. Hehe! She said not to worry for she plans to have her early Christmas shopping there and I just make my list so she can buy them for me.

Shopping

Most of my friends are saving up and were working overtime so that they have enough money to spend and can’t wait till Thanksgiving for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale. Most of us want to buy toys and clothes for our kids as gifts this Christmas and some would like to buy bags as gifts for themselves. I really should start making a least already, “ber” months has started and I’m sure before we know it, it will be Christmas again! J

Xanadu

I was able to watch the play Xanadu yesterday together with my husband when I got free tickets from the office. We were one of the sponsors on that day’s play that our division was given a space to exhibit our products. At first, we find it awkward because some of the companies there are wholesale distributors of perfumes, slippers, lotions, etc while our products are on renewable energy (solar products and water purifier). But thankfully, the people who watched the play approached our table also and asked about the products.

About the play, as usual I enjoyed watching it. It’s a musical play with Rachel Alejandro as the lead actress as Kira, a beautiful Greek muse who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach California in the 1980s to inspire an artist Sonny Malone (Felix Rivera) to achieve the greatest creation of all time, the first Roller-Disco.

The play was hilarious and very entertaining that I was laughing while watching it. If you have time, go and watch Xanadu, at the Carlos P. Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati. The play is directed by Bobby Garcia and will run from Sept. 3-19, 2010.

Deadliest Catch

One of the TV shows I miss watching is Deadliest Catch at Discovery Channel. It’s a documentary that shows real life events on fishing vessels during Alaskan king crab season. You would learn why it’s entitled Deadliest Catch when you see all the risks the crew have to face during fishing. The season is done during the winter months when the water is freezing, the seas are turbulent, and you have to haul in pots that can weigh up to a ton when full, not to mention several days work with very little sleep. This job is called the most dangerous in the US. Injuries are often attributed to working with heavy machinery and gear, with fatalities caused by drowning r hypothermia. I wouldn’t be surprised if the crew would call in a Jones Act lawyer. They say all these dangers are worth it if the season was a successful one. Deckhands can be paid up to tens of thousands of dollars for a few days work if they have a good catch.
