My siblings and I were more into sports than the arts. When we were small, we often watch sports in television than regular tv shows or movies. We watch major league, NBA, or even local basketball like PBA, swimming, volleyball, tennis (French, Australian, Wimbledon, or US open), golf, etc. We also love to watch the local basketball live and cheer our hearts out when the team we root for is winning.
But among all these sports we watch, we only know how to play volleyball, and for my brother, basketball and baseball. But all of us know how to swim and swim well that is. :) I even dreamt before of becoming an ironman triathlon athlete. I said before that I know how to ride a bike, I know how to swim and I can run. But my dad told me that it’s not as easy as I think it is. An ironman triathlon must mean you would finish a race in 17 hours. According to wiki, this consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a marathon of 26.2 miles run. The training is rigorous and requires a lot of discipline from the athlete. You should have the stamina to be able to last that long and do all three sports the fastest way you can. It may take several years of aerobic base training before an athlete can be prepared and considered safe and ready to participate in competitions.
I may not be a triathlete but I’m glad that my parents thought me how to play these sports. It helps me to get fit and practice discipline. This one I promised myself that I will teach my children. :)
