Grey's Anatomy

I’ve been sleeping late at night again watching season 7 of grey’s anatomy. I don’t get to watch the show regularly so I watch it on my laptop from the downloaded episodes given by my sister. I really like the show for I think I learn something whenever I watch it. Since the show’s setting is on the hospital, the actors wear medical scrubs all the time and then wear surgical scrubs when they go to surgery. They attendings though wear different scrub hats that they feel are their lucky charms. I wonder which scrub stores do they get their costumes.

Anyhow, I sometimes compare them to our hospitals here in our country, and hoping that our doctors and surgeons are as fast and skilled as they are. I know it’s just a tv show but I get inspired and touched whenever they get to save lives or whenever they are so affected with what happened to their patient. I’m sure though our doctors are compassionate as they are. Anyhow, I’m blabbing here na, just try to watch the show if you have time, I assure you, it’s good. :)

Fish Feeding at Nuvali

I mentioned in my previous post that we spent the weekend in Tagaytay. On our way home, we dropped by Nuvali to show my kids the koi fish. There are plenty of those and my son had fun feeding them. My daughter though got scared and doesn't want to go near. My dad enjoyed looking at them too and wondered how they take care of them. He even asked someone from there how often do they feed the fish and how do they clean the pond. I even heard him mention the use of a metal hose though I did not fully understand what they were talking about then. Anyhow, my son said he wants to go back to Nuvali to feed the fish again. I told him we will come back there next time and will tag along their nannies for they want to see it too. We'll see if we can come back there this weekend

Parents Leaving Again

We spent the weekend in Tagaytay to bond with our parents since they are leaving in February for New Zealand to be with my brother and his family.  They might stay there for nine months to look after my 5 year old nephew since my brother and his wife can't look after him because they both have work while my nephew and niece are both in school.  My sister and I are talking if we will get a Medicare plan for my parents before they leave since they are old already.  We haven't decided yet but we are scouting for HMOs already who can give them the plan we want.

Mini Shopaholic

This I what I'm reading now. Thanks to one of my online friends who provided us with an ebook. I love sophie kinsella books, not that I can relate with Becky Bloomwood but I really find the books entertaining. I'm not a shopaholic but I do love to buy items that I think I need and are definitely worth having. :D Anyhow, I just started reading the book and am still at chapter 1. I'll try to make a short review of the book once I'm done.

Beauty School

My friend has been looking for a beauty school where she can enroll to enhance more her skills in cosmetology. She has taken a course already in the country where she came from and when she migrated, she said she wants to pursue it. She said her friends recommended the Regency Beauty Institute for it is known to be the fastest growing beauty school in the country. She is really excited when she heard about it and has been looking forward to enrollment time. She’s hoping that when she finishes her course, she’ll be able to practice cosmetology again. I wish him all the luck!

Health Talks

Since the holidays, I've been eating a lot and it hasn't stop now.  I'm not really like this but I've been busy since the first week of January and some of the meetings I've been to result to us getting a snack or sometimes having lunch together.  And I think some of the food I ate are not really healthy that a lot of people recommended that I get a detox or colon cleanse to help cleanse my body and prevent diseases in the future.  I'm considering of getting one now, if time permits.

Good News

My college best friend who’s youngest child is I think 9 years old already told us that she’s pregnant. We’re really happy for them because I didn’t know that they are still trying to conceive having two kids already. But both kids are boys and now they are hoping that this time it’s going to be a girl. She said she haven’t seen her OB yet but is already reading articles on pregnancies like trimedisyn reviews for prenatal vitamins, she’s also reading articles on the weekly development of a child and a lot more. She said it’s been 9 years since she last gave birth and it feels likes she’s doing it for the first time again. Tomorrow we’re going to see each other and I’m sure she’ll have more stories to tell as to how her pregnancy goes. :)

Gaining Weight Again

My husband had an operation two months ago and he lost weight because of it. Right after the operation he said his appetite was gone and that he gets full faster. I’m really happy with his weight loss but after he recovered he started gaining weight again. His appetite is back especially during the holidays. Now I’m looking for Diet pills that work without exercise because exercising is not really on his agenda and he is aware that he is gaining weight again. I do hope I’ll be able to find one for him.

The Tourist

Last Thursday, my husband, sister and I met at Rockwell to watch this movie. Thanks to citibank’s promo, we can watch a movie at a much lower cost. The movie was not how I was expecting it to be. I did not read the plot before watching it so I have no idea of the story. It’s not really a must see but at least it can entertain you for a few hours. Angelina Jolie is really gorgeous and the setting is in Europe with first class hotels, bathrooms with glass mosaic tiles, and of course wonderful scenery of Europe. Johnny Depp’s role is very light and not the usual unique roles from his previous movies. Anyhow, it’s not as bad as it seems, it’s just not how I expected it. You can still catch it in theaters. :)

Blog Contest

Maver is having a birthday contest which I blogged about here. She was supposed to announce the winner last January 12, her exact birthday but since Starbucks extended their planner promo, she extended her contest as well. But the good news is that, she'll be giving away 1 Starbucks VIA, 1 Starbucks tumbler, 1 Starbucks messenger bag, and all 3 planners (wood, metal and velvet)! So to those of you who are interested, you may visit her blog to see the mechanics. Good luck!

Headphones

I’ve been looking for headphones for the past few days already since mine are not working anymore. I normally use them when the kids are already asleep and I would like to watch a video on my laptop without disturbing their sleep. I’m looking for comfortable headphones, one which won’t hurt despite wearing for a period of time and also provides great sound. Hope I’ll be able to find one soon!

Accutane

You might know someone who is suffering from crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which might be because they took an Accutane drug in the past. If that’s the case, you can tell them that they can file an Accutane lawsuit for product liability claims. If proven, they will be entitled for compensatory damages that can be used for the medications on the illnesses brought about by using the said drug. Lawyers from O’Hanlon, McCollum and Deramath are known to defend this type of case and so it is best to approach them. There are previous users of accutane who were awarded already with huge money for compensatory damages.

Technology

The past few years were years where the technology evolved pretty fast and very advanced. Several gadgets were available in the market that can help people be entertained and at the same time communicate better with the use of smart phones. There are also several game consoles to choose from for kids or even those kids at heart will really love. There’s xbox, Play station, Wii and the portable ones like PSP, DS, iPod Touch, etc. Some adults complain that these gadgets may be entertaining but can also be a source for children to be anti-social and also less active for they only sit in from of their televisions or computers playing by themselves and the only part of their body that is moving are their fingers.

As for cellular phones, these also became better year after year. Phones these days are not only for texting or calling or availing of free ringtones every now and then, but can also be used for sending emails, storing songs, can serve as camera, and playing games. These features are really great especially for people on the move. Those phone features are very useful for businessmen who needs to access their emails anywhere they are, or for others who would like to be entertained when they are traveling.

Some adults sometimes ask, with this day and age, when is the right time to provide children with cell phones? For me, I think children can be given cell phones when they are old enough to understand how to use it or when they commute going to school so that their parents will be able to check if they got to school safely. The age may vary depending on the maturity of the child. If he can understand the responsibility of having one, not only because he can use it for games, but mainly because he should use it so his parents can contact him or vise versa anytime they want. Children can use their parents’ cell phones for games provided there’s a time limit as to how long they can use it. I’m not sure if parents will agree with my thoughts but that’s what I plan to do with my children. I won’t be giving them cell phones if I think they don’t need it yet. :)

Poker

I just finished watching TV where they showed this year’s World Series of Poker, in which the winner of the event took home over $8 million, I believe. That’s something you can’t do everyday. I remember the first time I played poker; it was in a cousin’s house during one of our family’s annual visit to them. At the time, I have never played a hand of poker but they persevered to teach me how and even wrote on a piece of paper the possible hands I could form.

For me, poker is really a mental game since no matter what cards you get at the start, what’s important is how you play your cards. You play them right, you could go home a very happy man, because that was what happened to me several months ago. I do not play very often, not even recreationally. But during an annual team-building event at work, our boss brought his chips so we converted the tables there and made them into poker tables. I was just a spectator at first but a colleague asked me to take his place after a few games. Anyway, I guess it was just my lucky day that I took home the pot.

Sports

My siblings and I were more into sports than the arts. When we were small, we often watch sports in television than regular tv shows or movies. We watch major league, NBA, or even local basketball like PBA, swimming, volleyball, tennis (French, Australian, Wimbledon, or US open), golf, etc. We also love to watch the local basketball live and cheer our hearts out when the team we root for is winning.

But among all these sports we watch, we only know how to play volleyball, and for my brother, basketball and baseball. But all of us know how to swim and swim well that is. :) I even dreamt before of becoming an ironman triathlon athlete. I said before that I know how to ride a bike, I know how to swim and I can run. But my dad told me that it’s not as easy as I think it is. An ironman triathlon must mean you would finish a race in 17 hours. According to wiki, this consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a marathon of 26.2 miles run. The training is rigorous and requires a lot of discipline from the athlete. You should have the stamina to be able to last that long and do all three sports the fastest way you can. It may take several years of aerobic base training before an athlete can be prepared and considered safe and ready to participate in competitions.

I may not be a triathlete but I’m glad that my parents thought me how to play these sports. It helps me to get fit and practice discipline. This one I promised myself that I will teach my children. :)

Moving

My cousin has been living some time in California but this year he will be moving to Phoenix because of work. He is really preparing for this big move and is now searching for Phoenix apartments where he and his family will settle for the first few months of their move. He said he has mixed emotions with this big move since California has been his home for more than 10 years already. It was there where he lived when he migrated to the United States and now he will begin a new chapter in his life by moving in Phoenix.

He is now studying about the place so that he will know what to consider and also what to do when they finally transfer. He also started asking friends and colleagues how it is like to live there so he can also prepare his wife and daughter. He checked the weather, the culture, the schools, so he would know where to send his child and everything he can think of about the city.

Moving is really difficult especially when you’ve settled to where you are already. It is even more difficult if you have a family to tag along. But I’m sure, my cousin has done his work and has thought of all the steps he should take to become ready for this big move. I wish him all the luck!

Education

Our office encourages employees to continue studying even if they have careers already. This is because one of the values our company would like employees to embrace is love for learning and education. In fact, one of the slogans that we have is “there’s no saturation point in education.” Our President always says this slogan whenever he talks to new employees. We also support charity works that focuses on education, may it be donation for a school or support a tuition fee for a child.

Anyhow, there was a time that some members of the management team are fortunate for they were funded by the company to pursue graduate studies. And they applied what they learned in our company which helped the company to generate more sales and at the same time have better company systems. It was put on hold for a few years when we had a crisis in the office. But this year, our President is again thinking of launching it back through online education. This is because he now saw the advantages of studying online. He saw that online studying has flexible time and also can be done at home. He realized that most of the members of the management team have families already and sending them to school will use up that time so online education is a win-win solution. We can study at the comforts of our home. So now, we are asked to look at educationforadults.com and check all their courses to see which course we can take that’s appropriate for what we are handling in the office. I’m excited with this one and I hope I’ll be part of the list for this year. :)
