In Excess

We just got home from the doctor for a follow-up checkup on the kids. Plus we had our flu vaccine administered by the doctor. I’m very proud of my kids as they didn’t cry or complain when it was their turn to be injected. Their cough and colds are also on the way out and the swelling of insect bites have subsided. Our only concern is the weight that we, the parents have picked up. Because of this, we’re checking the best hgh releasers in the market today to get rid of the excess weight.

Breakouts

I went to a dermatologist two weeks ago because I had this very big pimple on my face. The doctor said that my pimple is healing already so I just need to put some ointment and go back to her in case there’s a problem. I plan to go back to her this weekend because that pimple left a black mark on my face and at the same time I had some really big pimples again and all of them are on one side of my cheek only! I don’t know if this is what they call hormonal acne but I really need it to subside and my face be pimple free. I have several meetings the following week and I don’t want to look unpleasant in from of my potential clients.

Sofitel

My sister forwarded this to me. Since she's working in an airline company, she's entitled to this promo. It's been a long time since we last checked in at Sofitel and maybe this is a good opportunity for us to go there again. We'll see with our schedule if there's a weekend that both of us are free. Minis

It seems that the wife has taken my place as the always-away-from-home parent. In my previous workplace, I was sometimes tasked to go out-of-town – weeks at a time on some occasions - for some technical duties. She was issued a laptop but after a while, a seemingly light laptop can feel like a ton. She’s currently eyeing one of those miniportables to replace her current laptop as it is starting to show signs of old age.

Save More

We are constantly on the lookout on how to trim our monthly bills. Our last electric bill was down by fifty percent, that’s because we haven’t had our room’s air conditioner replaced after it bogged down. Our water bill is still up there with no signs of it going down anytime soon. We might start using a hot tub covers as we heard that it insulates the tub, saving some cash from the heating bill.

Earth Hour

Everybody is concerned on everything that's been going on here in our planet. There's earthquake, tsunami, and so on. On Saturday, at 8:30pm is what we call the Earth Hour. Let us all make a stand against climate change by participating here. All we have to do is turn off our lights and electrical appliances at home or at work for one hour, 8:30-9:30pm.

It's a very simple act, but if we all participate together, it will make a great impact in our planet. Its time we give back to mother Earth. :)

Family Fun Run

Running and marathons are the "in" thing these days. I joined some of the fun runs sponsored by our office and I enjoyed it. Now, Good Housekeeping is going to have a Family Fun Run on April 3, 2011 at the Manila Ocean Park. I am sure this is going to be fun because you can run as a family and you can bring your dogs too! I'll ask my husband if he wants us to join. I'm sure this is going to be fun!

I was glad to see that they are on sale now and started looking for shirts for my son and dress and blouse for my daughter. I was also looking for a romper but I can't find any on their site. Drivers here in my part of the world are not as disciplined compared to other drivers. My cousins living abroad who went here for a vacation all got scared and at the same time were impressed on the drivers. They admit they won’t be able to drive like them in so many ways. LOL!

The Right Way to Pandesal Abs

I saw this article in Health Today and would like to share them with you. This is perfect for those who want to have abs like "machete". :)

Be careful when choosing abdominal exercises. Some can be ineffective and downright dangerous.
  • Never do sit-ups with your legs held down. It stops the abdominal muscles from getting involved, and the muscles that do get the work out (the hip flexors) put stress directly on your lower back. Instead, your legs should always be relaxed during abdominal exercises and rest on the floor without support.
  • Never rush through your sit-ups. Fast sit-ups don't work your abdominals. They may also injure your back because they strain your hip flexor muscles.
  • Don't hang onto your neck or head when doing sit-ups. You'll pull on your neck with each sit-up, leading to neck pain.
  • Bend those knees. If you keep your legs straight during sit-ups, you'll only work your hip flexor muscles and not your abdominals.

Developing Healthy Eating Habits

Healthy living is a growing trend these days. People are becoming more aware of making healthy choices and are making changes in their lifestyles to have better health. People realize that even if they lead busy lives, their health should always be a priority.

If you are one of the many people who want to develop a healthy lifestyle, here are some healthy eating ideas you can start with.

1. Analyze your eating habits. Do you snack in between meals, indulge on desserts after meals or eat the most during dinner? Are you a soda popper, always having a soda can in your hand? Identifying your diet pitfalls can help you develop solutions to overcoming them.

2. Cut back on the salt. Sodium can cause bloating and make your stomach bigger because it lets your body retain water. Take note though, that sodium isn’t only found in salty foods. Sodium is present in all kinds of foods – it is used for preservation of food. So you guessed it right, almost all canned foods, soup-to-go lunches and microwavable dinners are full of it. Be careful – read labels.

3. Reduce and don’t eliminate certain foods totally. Substitution is the key. If your favorite foods are high in fat, sodium or sugar, you can still eat those kinds of food, only in certain allowable amounts. If you love dairy products, choose skim or low-fait varieties instead.

4. Balance your food choices over time and make changes gradually. Do not expect that you can totally revamp your eating habits overnight. Begin by doing some modest changes and be consistent in applying them to your daily life. These little changes can add up and be positive, lifelong eating habits.

5. Eat smaller portions and eat regular meals. You can eat five smaller meals instead of three large meals a day. They key to being healthy is not necessarily eating less, but choosing to eat more sensibly. Choose what you put into your mouth wisely.

6. Eat your breakfast. People think that by skipping breakfast they are going to save on calories and it will be beneficial for their diet. They do not know that one’s metabolism has slowed down during their sleep and eating breakfast will kick-start it again. As such, you should always eat breakfast within an hour of waking up.

7. Stop eating 3 hours before your bedtime. As a general rule, one should not eat anything within three hours of his sleep time. Eating late at night or too close to your bedtime can cause your morning stomach cramps as your food may not properly digest. Remember, your metabolism slows down when you sleep.

8. Eat a variety of nutrient rich foods. You need more than 40 different nutrients for good health, and no single food supplies them all. Your daily intake should consist of fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish or any other source of protein. Eat plenty of whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

9. The little things add up over time. If you are trying to lose weight, the type of liquid you take (sodas and juices) have equivalent calories, so do condiments and salad dressings. All these little things add up.

10. Everything in moderation. Don’t feel guilty if you love foods. It is perfectly fine to eat apple pie, potato chips, candy bars or ice cream! The key here is to eat them in moderation.

Summer Time

I’m sure most of us have plans this summer on how we are going to spend it. Some friends say they are going to hit the beach with their families as soon as school is over. Some are going out of the country and try Outer Banks rentals for a different experience. As for me, I haven’t made plans yet. I enrolled the kids on a swimming program this summer and I do hope they learn from it. My cousin is planning an outing come April and we do hope we will be able to reserve the place she recommended.

Adjustment Bureau

My sister has some charge slips from Citibank and asked us last night if we want to watch a movie with her so her charge slips won’t go to waste. So the husband and I agreed and we watched Adjustment Bureau at Sm Marikina. The story is kinda weird because there are supposedly people who control our fate. That they meddle in case the decision we made is against the plan. These people remind me of the observer from the tv show fringe because of how they dressed up and also of their role, though in fringe they don’t interfere directly and tries to control the person.
Anyhow, I won’t divulge much more details because you might want to see it too. It’s a good film but I’m not that impressed. If not for Citibank charge slips, I won’t spend time watching it. Hehe!

Dinner Tonight

The husband and I were supposed to go out tonight for dinner. He said it was a surprise as my birthday is coming soon. He said he found this great restaurant with great food, chair slipcovers, great ambiance and even provides a tour at their museum after the meals. Unfortunately, a friend called us this morning asking if we can meet her for she has some serious problems. I told the husband that we can reschedule the dinner some other time. We’ll see if we can make it next week. :)
